One of the reasons we believe wellness staycations in the UK are set to soar in 2026 is because over the past year, we’ve noticed a quiet but meaningful shift in how our guests are choosing to travel. Increasingly, it’s not about going further or doing more, it’s about finding the right environment to slow down, breathe and reconnect. Beautiful homes will always be at the heart of what we offer as a holiday let management company, but more and more guests are seeking something deeper from their stay.
And Sussex, quite naturally, lends itself to exactly that.

A New Kind of Wellness Travel
When people hear the word “retreat”, they often imagine a packed schedule of activities or a highly structured programme.
What we’re seeing instead is something far more intuitive.
Guests are increasingly drawn to wellness-led escapes that feel flexible and personal. The kind where mornings might start with a coastal walk or quiet yoga practice, followed by long lunches, good conversation and evenings spent by the fire.
It’s less about doing more, and more about creating the right environment to simply be. One of the best ways to do this is by taking advantage of our bespoke concierge services to add in experiences such as: in-house massage, a private yoga or breathwork class or a fine dining experience prepared by our collection of private chefs for hire.
This more relaxed approach to wellbeing is exactly what makes the UK luxury wellness staycation such an appealing option.
Why Sussex Is Perfect for Wellness Staycations in the UK
One of the reasons we founded The Butler Collection was because we felt Sussex offered something quite special.
Within a relatively small stretch of landscape, you have access to open countryside, coastal air and peaceful villages, all within easy reach of London and the South East.
For guests seeking restorative travel, that combination is powerful.
There’s something about the rhythm here that encourages you to slow down. A morning walk across the South Downs, a swim in the sea, lunch at a local vineyard (follow us on Instagram for local guides) or farm shop, it all adds up to a kind of natural reset.
And when those experiences are paired with a home that feels calm, comfortable and thoughtfully designed, the effect can be transformative.
Bringing Wellness Retreats to The Butler Collection
As we’ve watched the demand for wellness-led travel grow, we began thinking about how we could offer something more intentional for our guests.
This year, we’re very pleased to be introducing wellness retreats hosted in collaboration with local holistic practitioner Charlotte Wickins Wellbeing.
Charlotte has been facilitating retreats and therapeutic sessions in West Sussex for many years and brings a deeply personal approach to her work. Drawing on kinesiology (Kynergy), talking therapies, yin yoga, therapeutic massage and life coaching, she creates experiences designed to support each guest individually.
“I love to hold a safe space for Human DO-ings to transform back into Human BE-ings!” ~ Charlotte Wickins
What we particularly value about Charlotte’s work is that it isn’t prescriptive.
Rather than following rigid retreat formats, her approach focuses on meeting people where they are, offering space, support and guidance in equal measure.

A Retreat Experience That Feels Personal
These retreats will take place within carefully selected homes across The Butler Collection, including:
Marble Bridge Farm, Sidlesham
A beautiful 16th-century farmhouse, a harmonious blend of historic charm and modern luxury.

Coles House, Selsey
A large Georgian home, full of charm, character, and space. A seaside break with a touch of elegance.

The Lookout, Brighton
(Launching soon!)

Hosting retreats within private, premium holiday homes creates a very different atmosphere from traditional retreat centres. There’s a sense of ease and intimacy that allows guests to relax more quickly and settle into the experience.
You’re still surrounded by beautiful interiors and landscapes, but the focus shifts toward how the space makes you feel, calm, comfortable and supported.
It’s wellness travel that feels natural, rather than performative and without the airfare.
What This Means for Our Guests
For those who already enjoy staying with us, this simply opens up another way to experience the Collection.
Some guests may choose to join a guided retreat with Charlotte and her network of somatic practitioners. Others may prefer to incorporate smaller wellness moments into their stay, perhaps arranging a private yoga session, a massage or simply spending time outdoors. All of which can be arranged to the finest detail by uour dedicated concierge manager.
Both approaches are equally valuable.
What matters most is that guests leave feeling better than when they arrived, and from what our reviews say – they always do.
Looking Ahead
As we look forward to what’s to come in 2026, it’s clear that travel, particularly luxury staycations in Sussex are continuing to evolve.
Guests aren’t just searching for beautiful places to stay, they’re searching for experiences that support how they want to feel when they return home. After all, people will always remember how you made them feel.
That’s why we believe wellness staycations in the UK will continue to grow, and why we’re excited to bring this new offering into the Collection.
For us, it’s a natural extension of what we’ve always tried to create: homes that offer more than just accommodation, and stays that leave a lasting impression long after you’ve left.
